Turtles Galore

files/processsed TURTLE.jpg

This year there seem to be more turtles than ever! Just recently Activity Manager and Dive Instructor Rhys Cutler saw a total of 3 different types of turtle on just one dive near Rolas Island with a group of lucky guests.There are 4 types of turtles that are seen when diving around Guludo;

Hawksbill Turtles These are the turtles we see most often with a couple of resident hawksbill at Lion's Den dive site just off Rolas Island. Often snorkellers are fortunate enough to see them.

Green Turtles These are larger than the hawksbill and seen most often around Matemo and Zala and less frequently at Rolas.

Olive Ridley's Turtles The Olive Ridley's turtles are only seen when diving every few months or so and are normally seen around Rolas.

Leatherback Turtles Enormous, pre-historic-looking leatherbacks have been seen a few times while diving around Matemo and Ibo.
