Stone Masons of the world take note! This one’s for you. For the past 6 months we have been lucky enough to have two fine stallions of stone masons in the full time employment of Guludo Beach Lodge and the Nema Foundation.
No job is too small for Abacar and Dali, both born and bred in Guludo. So far their CV spans a plethora of different types of masonry work; from the Guludo Primary School, our award winning bandas, the Guludo shop to the more recent energy saving ovens.
They are two extremely honest and diligent men who not only work together, but are also next door neighbours and solid friends.
Abacar once told me that a man is stealing money from his boss unless the sweat is pouring from his body. I didn’t tell him that in the sub-Saharan africa, walking to the bar and back again has me looking like I’ve been for an afternoon swim. It’s a fine work ethic all the same, and one that he lives by.
Anyway, a well deserved round of applause is due these two upstanding gentlemen. And we wish them all the best with their new project, the second phas of the new primary school at Ningaia. We’ll keep you updated!
