A stroll through the sandy streets of Guludo is a highlight and a half for any guest that comes to visit our earthly paradise. The man behind these increasingly wonderful ventures into the village is our very own ‘Guest Relations Co-Ordinator’ Idris Nfalume(a new and very exciting promotion for our for former Head Waiter). Idris has become exceedingly good at guiding people round his beloved home village, recounting tales of the heroics of the fisherman of the Mwani tribe and the sad failings of the Macua people. Do not be alarmed by this as they actually live in the most peaceful of harmonies, it’s just playful jesting. He leads our intrepid guests on a snaking path through the village, usually followed closely by a swarm of playing children desperate to see their own grinning faces on the back of any willing visitor’s camera. The new market place is always bussling with traders and browsers alike. You never fail to see at least a couple of highly contested games of Ludo taking place.
The final ‘wow factor’ of the village tour has always been Guludo’s very impressive new school, constructed by the Nema foundation. It still is the major pinnacle for any guest to see the fabulous work that is going on in the local community but recently Idris has introduced a small (and extremely popular) diversion just before the huge mango trees in the school playground come into sight; his own family abode.
He is so proud of his own house that he once put a Guludo Beach Lodge sign outside in the hope he could filter off some of our clientele. There is no doubt whatsoever that it is a very beautiful house with a back garden that would impress Charlie Dimmock. Waka, his wife, and Nando, his son and heir are also always there with big welcoming smiles that would make anyone feel right at home.
It’s a tour like no other so make sure you come and see it for yourselves!
