Last week Aby Alide and Amy Carter-James very proudly collected the TODO! Award at ITB in Berlin, an International Contest for Socially Responsible Tourism. 

Amisse Assane, 17, from Guludo village, was in the first group of students to go to Secondary School with a Nema Scholarship in January 2007.

I took this clip while in the village with guests and hopefully it will bring some Guludo sunshine to some gloomy offices around the world!

What does it take to turn a dream into reality? In the case of one eco beach lodge helping to lift a community out of poverty, it took the vision and determination of a young British couple.

We are extremely honoured to announce that Guludo Beach Lodge (with Nema) has won a Responsible Tourism Award in the category of "Best for Poverty Reduction".

We are very excited by the arrival of 2 new boats in Guludo, name Kusi and Ulani after the 2 trade winds.

A year ago when Claire told us she wanted to swim the Channel to raise money for both Nema and an MS charity; we were absolutely elated. However, as she described just what it entailed;

Past guests at Guludo, Laura and Toby (aged 10), have just cycled a gruelling 190 miles, from London to Wales to raise money for Nema. Incredible!
