Learn to weave palm, make a pot or just support the women by buying their products.
While in the village go and visit the two main craft gourps; the stunning palm weavers and the elderly pot makers.
The Milala Group (palm weaving)
This group consists of 17, young beautiful women, the majority of whom have a young child strapped to their back or breast feeding. They dry palm leaves, dye them using local dyes and make exquisite jewellery. Later this year the product range will be expanding to hats, bags and shoes.The Ceramics Group
This is a group of 8 feisty, elderly ladies, with perhaps one set of teeth between them all. This group makes a variety of ceramic products including small, dainty dishes to large, traditional water pots.
